Police Arrest Suspect Linked to Multiple Thefts in Tlatelolco

Authorities in Mexico City detained a man connected to at least three robberies in Tlatelolco, following an incident where he assaulted a woman. The suspect, identified as Víctor “N”, was caught with a knife and stolen phone after a police chase.


Police Arrest Suspect Linked to Multiple Thefts in Tlatelolco

Elements of the Auxiliary Police of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of Mexico City detained a subject linked to at least 3 robberies of passersby in the Tlatelolco area, Cuauhtémoc borough. His arrest took place on March 12, after the individual attacked a woman with a knife, stripping her of her cell phone, at the intersection of Flores Magón and Guerrero, Guerrero neighborhood in the Cuauhtémoc borough.

The victim requested help from agents of sector 64 Orion belonging to the Cuauhtémoc borough, who pursued the suspect and managed to catch him a few meters later. During the preventive review, the officers found in the possession of the detainee a knife of approximately 15 centimeters and a Huawei phone, recognized by the woman as her property.

The individual, identified as Víctor “N” aged 51, was presented before the Public Ministry agent of the Territorial Coordination CUH-2, where his legal situation will be determined for the crime of robbery of a passerby. According to authorities, the man is suspected of being involved in at least three other robberies of passersby, possibly also using weapons.

A week ago, authorities of the demarcation announced an increase in police presence in the area, where the body of Gilda Guadalupe was found lifeless on March 8.
